The Ocean Waves May Roll

Описание к видео The Ocean Waves May Roll

This is my version of the sea shanty "The Ocean Waves May Roll"! There are several versions of this ocean-ballad and everyone puts their own twist to it a bit. I found the lyrics in the book "Secret History of Mermaids and Creatures of the Deep", and made my own version of them in order for them to fit the syllable-count for the melody I wrote.

Lyrics:
'Twas Friday 'morn when we set sail, we'd not gone far from land,
When the captain spied a lovely mermaid with comb and glass in her hand.

O, the ocean waves may roll, and the storming winds may blow!
While we poor sailors skip aloft, and the landlubbers lie down below, below, below.
And the landlubbers lie down below.

And up spoke the Captain of our gallant ship, and a jolly old Captain was he,
"I have a wife in Salem town but tonight a widow she will be!"

Irish Whistles
Mermaids harmonizing

Then three times 'round went our gallant ship, and three times 'round went she,
And the third time that she went around, we sank to the bottom of the Sea!

O, the ocean waves may roll, and the storming winds may blow!
While we poor sailors skip aloft and the landlubbers lie down below, below, below.
And the landlubbers lie down below.
