The three chord version (G, C & D) I play in this video is based on the recording Dylan included on his 1963, 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' album. In that version he played the song in the key of D (G with a capo on the 7th fret). I put my capo on the 5th fret, as the key of C is more comfortable for my singing range. Over the years Bob has played the song in a variety of different ways, in different keys, and with different chord progressions. Peter, Paul and Mary's hit version also deviated from the key and chord progression of Dylan's 1963 recording, and included a minor chord (the relative minor).
