The evil Mrs Elizabeth Brownrigg

Elizabeth Brownrigg was a midwife for the parish church workhouse. As a means to make extra money she and her husband took on some apprentice teenage children from the workhouse to carry out daily tasks. The Brownriggs were paid a sum of money for each child. Elizabeth Brownrigg would treat the children badly eventually causing the death of one of the young girls.
