Ankylosing spondylitis is an important chronic autoimmune arthritis disease that causes low back pain and also pain in several joint regions. In addition, it may affect the colon or eye causing inflammation in those two organs that are termed colitis (ulcerative colitis or Crohn's) and uveitis respectively.

Dr. Hatem Eleishi is a professor of Rheumatology at Cairo University, Egypt. He dedicates much of his time to patient education about rheumatic diseases. Dr. Hatem runs two rheumatology clinics (arthritis clinics) in Cairo (Egypt: Dr. Hatem Eleishi Medical Center) and in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
