Blumhouse's AFRAID is Hilariously Awful

I love well-crafted sci-fi films that tackle the topic of AI rebelling against its human creators. The Terminator gave us a dystopian smackdown between humanity and Skynet, Ex Machina delved into AI manipulation and philosophical mind games, The Matrix redefined the genre by exploring the blurred lines between reality and simulation, pushing the boundaries of technology as a tool of control and rebellion.

Megan blended horror and satire to critique our tech obsession, and Her managed to make falling in love with your operating system weirdly poetic and depressing. I mention these films to highlight how powerful this topic can be—when not botched by incompetent filmmaking. Unfortunately, Blumhouse's latest movie fumbles it so hard you'd think the script was written by an AI... with a glitch in its code.
