Little Terns are among the most enadangered birds in NSW. Each year these diminutive terns migrate from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere , breeding on sand spits and beaches along the South Coast of NSW. Nesting in a mere scrape in the sand leaves them vulnerable to predation from foxes, ravens, silver gulls, goannas, domestic dogs, people, vehicles, high tides and big seas. The work of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service with a dedicated band of volunteers is attempting to turn the tide and bring these little seabirds back from the edge. Local resident David Gallan chronicles this stuggle.
