CENTRAL AMERICAN HERITAGE
Exciting adventures appear at every turn as children are introduced to the seven colorful countries of Central America. They'll see what it's like to live there and how immigrants from those countries have brought their traditions to North America.
Everyone learns how to say a few words and count to ten in Spanish. A field trip takes children to a shop where beautiful Guatemalan weavings are sold, and they also visit a Salvadorean grocery store for a view of chiles, tortillas, rice, and other treats from Central America. Next, they watch an animated Mayan folktale called The Chirimia, learn how to make a decorative weaving, then sing "El Torito Pinto", a folksong about a baby bull.
