Both Magpies come for feeds; she seemed more friendly than usual; Australian birds

As soon as she saw me she called out and flew right up. She was hungry and because she's missed a few days now, I gave her two bales. She came up unusually close to me today and let me get closer to her than usual – we're getting there! Or she was just VERY hungry. He turned up looking and sounding a bit distressed and got a good feed under a plank in front of the veg patch.

She was relaxed when I started weeding around the second bale. I expected her to move away a bit but she just kept eating. I thought she'd get a bit more friendly when she was collecting for chicks and it's started early.

When he turns up he made some unusual noises. It reminded me a bit of the noises Pauly was making after he'd been chased by the raptor. And he had a feather out of place. Maybe he'd been in a fight recently.

Neither bird collected food so no chicks have hatched yet and there's an excellent scratch at 5:00. I had a good break talking to Adam. He's a good listener once he's full of roaches. I got four dwarf Cavendish transplanted, dug up a mess of sweet potato, some mulching, checking on a lot of things and refreshed the rat poison around the veg patch amongst other things. Progress is being made!

See you next time.
