Athletic Pubalgia (Sports Hernia) Exercises

Описание к видео Athletic Pubalgia (Sports Hernia) Exercises

Today’s video covers a condition called athletic pubalgia, which used to be referred to as a sport hernia. Athletic pubalgia or sports hernia refers to a chronic groin injury in which there is a weakening of the posterior wall of the groin due to an imbalance between the abdominals and hip adductor muscles.

This injury is commonly seen in athletes that participate in sports that require quick change of direction movements, forceful lateral movements or repetitive kicking (hockey, football (soccer), long-distance running, etc).

Individuals with this issue usually experience unilateral (one-sided) lower abdominal pain and deep anterior groin pain that is deep and sharp in nature. The most common complaint is one-sided groin pain that dissipates with rest. Pain will be triggered with activity, sneezing or coughing or when contracting the abdominal muscles (performing a sit up).

Besides the exercises shown here, the hip flexor and groin pain programs in my book will help you recover from this issue. They are more comprehensive programs that guide you through three phases of rehab. All of the programs have pictures of me doing exercises and instructions.
