Hey gang! Something a bit different here: an opinion piece discussing the value of getting to sub 10% bodyfat for visible abs. In fact, I'm challenging the value of getting visible abs at all.

I think we often have a tendency to get distracted by things that aren't necessarily in service of our fitness goals. I believe that slaving away to get a few extra kilograms on a specific lift is an example of this. But I believe that trying to get to under 10% bodyfat for visible abs is even more common and less healthy!

First: you actually don't need to be that low to get visible abs. Many people have abs at 15% or higher (myself included!).

But more to the point: visible abs are not an indicator of true fitness. Fitness is how you feel and what you can do.
