Garmin Vivoactive 4 - How To Create Waypoints And Navigation

In this video, I'll show you how to use your Garmin Vivoactive 4 or Venu to create a waypoint of your current location, retrieve a saved location and navigate to a waypoint during an activity.

The big limitation however is the inability of editing the waypoint coordinates, which means you cannot manually add waypoint of locations other than your current position.

----- Creating a Waypoint --------
There are two ways to create a waypoint or a location.
1. Press and hold the START button until you see the controls menu and tap on the waypoint icon.
2. Press the START button and SCROLL down the activities list to the very bottom and tap on NAVIGATE.

Both methods will use the GPS and get your current location. So you'll need to be outside for this to work properly. This may 10-30 seconds. One you get a GPS fix, you will see a summary screen of the waypoint.

You have the option of customizing the waypoint category icon.

------ Viewing Saved Waypoints ------
Press the START button and SCROLL down the activities list to the very bottom and tap on NAVIGATE | SAVED LOCATIONS.

From here you can see the list of created or saved waypoints or locations. You can view details, go to, change category icon and delete.

-------Navigation During An Activity ------------
When you "go to" a saved waypoint, you will start a navigation activity, but you can also use navigation during an outdoor activity like running or walking.

1. During your activity, PRESS and HOLD the BACK button and tap on NAVIGATE

From here you can choose from : Back to start, saved locations. Pick an option and the navigation screen appears with the direction of travel arrow and distance remaining is shown on screen.

2. PRESS and HOLD BACK button and tap on STOP NAVIGATION to get out of navigation mode. Your activity timer and stats will still run during your navigation.
