Sail Away Son to Me

(Written Circa. 2014)

There's a light the other way.
That's the exit, and we haven't even entered the game,
There's the dark, there's the sea,
There's a vessel, brings you to me.
Looking out across those waves,
You'd be forgiven for wanting to stay,
To make a home here on your shore,
But this is nowhere, and here, you're alone.

So sail away, Son, to me.
I will love you, although we never did meet,
Until this time when you'll be free,
To be my reason. So sail to me.

You're a thought. A waking dream.
You're a sparkle of possibility.
You're a light you'll think and you'll feel,
You'll be no other, but your every heightened perception is real.

And you'll face death, and you'll feel need,
You'll be unrequited, unappreciated, unseen.
But this is a moment, and moments, they pass,
You'll understand them in the moments you look back.

And there is a witness to all that you do,
A balance of fairness in whatever you contribute.
Come, be in the circle but square with yourself,
That whatever you give and you take is in reference to somebody else.

So sail away, Son, to me.
Yours is a good start. That much, I guarantee.
