Peak District - 2 Night's Camping up on Kinder Scout

With the call of Kinder Scout beckoning, I arranged to meet up with Simon Frampton, at Edale, for a 2 night camp.

We started the trip by making a direct route to the local café in Edale, where we filled up on Egg, Bacon and Sausage butties washed down with a mug of Coffee before we started our ascent up Kinder.

From the café, we made our way up the Nab, then Golden Clough and finally reached the top of the plateau of Kinder Scout. Once we were up on the tops, we made our way to Grindsbrook before heading into the interior towards our campsite for the night.

We had originally planned to camp at Kinder Downfall for night 1, but because of the changing weather conditions, we opted for this more sheltered spot instead. We had an excellent night, full of great chat and good laughs. In the morning we decided to head towards Crowden then Kinder Gates before arriving at Kinder Downfall for night 2.

However, enroute we spoke to a chap who informed us that the ground was treacherous around Kinder Gates, so much so, that he told us that the previous week Mountain Rescue had to be called out, as somebody had managed to get themselves stuck waste deep in the bog. Considering the rainfall overnight, we opted to follow the safer edge path from Crowden, through the Woolpacks to Kinder Low and then past Redbook Clough and onto Kinder Downfall for our night 2 campsite.

Again we had a great night chatting and joking, and in the morning because we had missed out on seeing Kinder Gates the previous day, we followed the river Kinder up to Kinder Gates, before following the edge path back to Jacobs Ladder and Edale. Once we arrived back in Edale, we popped into the Nag's Head for a well deserved pint before heading back to Edale Car Park.

This was another fantastic 2 night camp. Simon was great company and the beautiful scenery of Kinder Scout, once again, didn't fail to impress.👍
