京都の高瀬川を最初から最後まで散策してみました(後半)。I took a walk along the Takase River in Kyoto. Part2.

高瀬川は、鴨川の西側を並行して南北に流れ、全長約10キロメートルです。角倉了以により開削され、1614年に完成しました。当初は、木材の運搬に使われる「高瀬舟」という浅瀬用の船が往来していたためその名が付けられ、内陸の京都への流通ルートとして重要な役割を果たしました。
現在では、流通ルートとしての役割は終え、高瀬川の沿岸は桜並木や石畳の道が続く美しい散策路となり、多くの観光客や地元の人々に愛されています。今回、単なる観光地としてだけでなく京都の歴史と文化を語る重要な場所でもある高瀬川を、最初から最後まで歩いてみました。
The Takase River runs parallel to the west side of the Kamo River from north to south, and is approximately 10 km long. It was opened by Ryoi Suminokura and completed in 1614. The river was originally named after the “Takase-bune,” a shallow-water boat used to transport lumber, and played an important role as a logistic route to Kyoto, which was located inland.
Today, the Takase River has ceased to serve as a logistic route, and its shores are lined with cherry blossom trees and cobblestone paths that are beautiful walking trails, beloved by many tourists and locals alike. This time, I walked along the Takase River from beginning to end, which is not only a tourist attraction but also an important place that tells the story of Kyoto's history and culture.
