고 최현의 작품으로 그 음악이 계면과 우조를 동시에 사용하여 엇 박의 묘미를 살리고 있어 춤사위 역시 계면조의 섬세함과 애절함을, 우조의 산뜻함과 우아함을 고도의 절제된 기교 속에 녹여 잘 표현하고 있다. 또한 비교적 담백한 소박미까지 내포하고 있어 여인의 하루 또는 사계절의 변화에 따른 마음의 흐름을 표현하고 있는 작품이다.

Dignity and elegance. The dance festival that is full of joy and refinement.

Sanjo, literally meaning "combining scattered melodies," was instrumental music that appeared in the 19th century, showing the musician's personal musical capability. Following the gayageum sanjo, which appeared first, geomungo, daegeum, and piri sanjo were composed one by one. In the mid-20th century dancers started to perform with sanjo music. Different from the salpuri dancing on the sinawi music, the sanjo dance is more feminine with a sensitive mood. The sanjo dance exposes the dancer's capability accumulated from the deep musical comprehension as well as many years of experience. Five female dancers who have been building their own dancing areas show their own sense of motion and passion on the stage this time. Be indulged with the vivid attraction of sanjo.

01. Yeoul, Choi Hyeon Style Sanjo Dance by Yu Gyeong-hui
This dance was originally choreographed by the late Master Choe Hyeon and goes well with the music in both the gyemyeon mode and ujo mode. Some motions look sad in the mood of sorrowful melodies, while at the same time some are fresh and elegant in terms of dancing techniques. Also, the dance follows dynamic rhythms with off beats and slightly varied beats. Moreover, the dance is simple and plain, symbolizing a day of an elegant lady or the changing of the four seasons.
