During the Siege of Gondor, Faramir arrives in Minas Tirith to meet Peregrin Took, the third Hobbit from North Middle-earth that he would encounter in a similar number of days.

This turn of events gives Gandalf great fear as he learns the determined destination that Frodo and Sam would take, towards Cirith Ungol.
