SKYRIM: I Made SKOOMA | Elder Scrolls Cookbook

"The finest skooma, the sweetest moon sugar. At a fair price, of course." - Skyrim Skooma Dealers

Sorry for the Mr. Beast -esque thumbnail, trying something new this April day... gave myself Dune Spice Eyes, as Skooma (or, more accurately, moon sugar) mimics the properties of the Spice Melange of Arrakis and had the idea for the thumbnail and intro chase scene to tie together.

In today’s video, we’ll be investigating the No. 1 dubious substance of Tamriel that is Skooma, exploring its history, lore, a couple Bethesda published real-world recipes and iterations that adapt it in a more legal manner in the Elder Scrolls Cookbook and Jim and Tonic's Rouge Absinthe Skooma for Skyrim's 10th Anniversary Edition (and possibly recreating Redwater Den Skooma, minus the waters of the Bloodspring of Lengeir's Feast), and one that could be... a little spicier. Happy 20th of Rain’s Hand!

Skooma is produced by distilling moon sugar, which grows in the form of Moon Sugar Canes in the Tenmar Forest of southern Elsweyr. The cat-folk consider it a sacred substance, but the men, mer and other beastfolk have a harder time resisting it. Azurah (or Azura) is tied to Moon Sugar, while Sheggarath the Skooma Cat (or Sheogorath) is intrinsically linked to the Skooma distillate.

Khajiit are really just out here munching holy moonlight crystals on the daily.

If you're reading this, leave a comment on whether you think the Dunmer or the Khajiit truly invented Skooma and let me know your reasoning! I'm still conflicted, but still lean towards the Dark Elves despite the more apparent Khajiiti connections.
