Blues’ recent run of form comes to an end after a 3-1 defeat away at Ipswich Town.

Mark Venus stood in for manager Tony Mowbray who’s had to step away from the job for a forseeable eight weeks due to health concerns.

Blues fans sang his name all afternoon with the players wearing t-shirts with Gaffer on the front.

However Blues just fell short of a point as the home side left it late to clinch all three points.

Conor Chaplin put Ipswich in front.

Breaking the line and smartly beat Ruddy with a cheeky flick.

But just before the break, Blues bounced back through Jordan James.

Knocking in his eighth for the season after Koji Miyoshi found him free towards the edge of the box.

The second half was up for grabs but none seemed to be able to find the net until substitute Sarmiento tapped in a close range finish to regain the lead.

Omari Hutchinson rounded off the afternoon for the Tractor boys.

Their fourth consecutive league win who go level with Leeds after their own late victory over league leaders Leicester City last night.

Results really didn’t go our way today with Huddersfield, Millwall, and QPR all winning.

Meaning we go back to just three points above the drop zone.

A nervy stat with a tricky top end clash coming up next week again versus Southampton but one the side should look forward to after the spirit they showed today.
