Egyptian Saviour OSIRIS "Dead God of Life" Full Story | History Podcast

Osiris, Usir, Usire. All these names refer to one ancient Egyptian god. Although during the Golden Age of the Pharaohs, when some of the most enduring and recognizable structures in the world were built, Osiris did not belong to the most revered deities, today, he is one of the most famous ancient Egyptian gods. His story is full of exciting and action-packed myths, mainly thanks to Plutarch, who studied ancient Egyptian sources and put the story of Osiris in order.

Who was Osiris, and how did it happen that he first replaced Anubis - “The Lord of Westerners,” as the main god of the dead and later began to be associated even with the most revered god by the Old Kingdom pharaohs - the god of the sun - Ra/Re? Why from among the children of the first divine parents, Shu and Tefnut, was Osiris the one who became the most important?

I will answer these questions and present lesser-known facts about Osiris in today's podcast. We will also learn more about the history of this iconic culture as the figure of Osiris is inextricably linked with the history of the land of pharaohs.
