Anxiety, Depression and Social Security Disability. A Lawyer's Advice.

What does it take to win Social Security disability benefits when your condition involves depression and / or anxiety? This is perhaps the most asked question I get, so listen up.


As I discuss in this video, Social Security disability judges have become significantly more demanding when considering SSDI or SSI claims for claimants struggling with severe depression or debilitating anxiety.


In today's environment, a treatment record consisting of medication management from your family doctor will likely NOT be enough.


My experience has been that judges expect to see extended and consistent treatment with a psychologist and/or psychiatrist, inpatient hospitalization and multiple failed work attempts.
I am also finding that claimants under age 50 have more of an uphill battle.


But, that doesn't mean anxiety and depressions aren't important to your case. The secret is to properly organize these conditions along with your other debilitating ailments in the right way. It's not one thing, but all of them taken TOGETHER that greatly improve your chances of success.
