Star Light family restaurant, located between freshwater fish farms and the Sal River in #Assolna, South #Goa, is the place we go to when we want to celebrate the Salcette way of life. Star Light is very close to the point where the river flows into the Arabian Sea. As soon as we arrive, we are greeted by the gorgeous river view. The salty sea air whets the appetite.

Owner Relly Rodrigues started with a small eatery in Assolna market nearly 30 years ago and today runs Star Light, a lovely waterfront space. This November 2023 will be Star Light's 20th anniversary.

It's a perfect place to enjoy #fish cooked in a variety of ways and gaze at Salcette’s beautiful river flowing past, while inhaling the aroma of the sea, along with a group of close friends.

Starlight is a must-visit both for the superlative river views and also for great #seafood. Located close to Salcette’s largest fishing jetty at Cutbona, the seafood here is among the freshest one can find. We feasted on rechead (stuffed) and rawa fried bangdo (mackerel), chonak (sea bass) butter garlic, crispy fried leppo (sole fish), prawns butter garlic, crispy cheese balls, stuffed mushrooms and fruit salad featuring Goa's summer crop of mangoes and watermelons.

Many come to Star Light for the speciality crab xec xec. If you are here at lunchtime, do try the fish thali.

Tip: The tables beside the river offer the best views. To bag a riverside table, get to Starlight a little earlier than usual for lunch or dinner.
