Trumpet player Ian Cleaver (1996) is one of the most promising, young jazz musicians that the Netherlands has to offer. Growing up in Amsterdam, he encountered the art of improvising at a young age. He has been performing professionally with different jazz groups and big bands in venues such as BIMHUIS, the Concertgebouw, and the North Sea Jazz Festival. In 2016 he won first prize at the prestigious Prinses Christina Concours. He won a study trip to New York City and appeared as a guest soloist with the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw. Cleaver has been working hard ever since and has shared the stage with world-renowned musicians such as Reginald Workman, Ack van Rooyen, John Engels, Eric Ineke, Dick Oatts, Jason Marsalis, Ben van Gelder, Jesse van Ruller, Benjamin Herman, and Jasper Blom.

Ack van Rooyen (91) says: “I performed many times with Ian. Even though he is in his early twenties, our age difference never mattered whilst playing”

Guitarist Jesse van Ruller (Amsterdam, January 21, 1972) belongs to the top amongst jazz guitarists of his generation. Great American guitarist Jim Hall says: “'A most expressive player; he really touched me on a personal level.” Van Ruller is at home in many different styles. Not only in traditional jazz but also in more innovative, edgy jazz groups he finds his voice. Jesse leads his own trio and quartet, and composes and records music with these bands. His growing international acclaim is seen throughout his discography with musicians such as pianist David Hazeltine, drummer Clarence Penn, and trumpet player Jon Swana. Since 2010, Jesse forms a trio, Chambertones, with Joris Roelofs and Clemens van der Feen.
