MG ZST 2024 review: Still the best cheap small SUV? Chery Omoda 5 and GWM Haval Jolion rival tested

The 2024 MG ZST is facing increasingly stiff competition in Australia, where it's come under attack from other Chinese small SUVs, namely the Chery Omoda 5 and GWM Haval Jolion. Point being, it's not the only model playing the value card in what is a very, very crowded segment.

So, what is the ZST doing to stand out from the crowd? Well, not exactly a lot – at least in recent times. That said, the MG is still leaning on its relatively low pricing, long list of standard equipment, strong ownership credentials and striking exterior design.

But as CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar finds out in this expert review, the ZST, even in tested flagship Essence form, is far from perfect, with the quality of some of its features not up to standard alongside its driving experience. That's not to say it's not worth buying – at least for some people.
