Hatirjheel is a famous lakefront front, the lake is located on the heart of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The lake, bridge and road of the Elephant-Lake project has been also a transportation channel for shrinking traffic hold up congestion within the nearby area. Some people also call হাতিরঝিল as Begunbari Jheel.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated হাতিরঝিল on 2nd January 2013. The Elephant-Lake project had made the transportation of Dhaka city much easier for the dwellers of Dhaka city. The sight here, especially at night, is now recognized to be one among the foremost picturesque places in Dhaka Bangladesh. Not only due to its spectacular view, but also for a colorful festive scenario at night, it's become one among the highest recreational places for town citizens and also for the tourists. As we are all aware of the fact that, most of the places of Dhaka city is packed with plenty of buildings and sometimes is admittedly difficult to seek out fresh air, which is a result of heavy pollution. But the Lake Hatirjheel, the nearby roads and the open sitting area is great place to feel the fresh air and the natural beauty don’t shy to mesmerize the visitors. Numerous transports like Hatirjheel water taxi and Chokrakar Bus services are popular means of transportation here.

Bangladesh Army along with the Special Works Organization (SWO), did the development of this lake side project. There's a saying that the elephants of Bhawal Raja accustomed to take baths on this lake and also the king kept his tamed elephants at Dhaka Pilkhana. Mainly through the Hatirpool and Elephant Road, the elephants were taken to the Elephant-lake. That’s maybe the rationale why the name of this lake is Hatirjheel. The Bangla word “Hati” (হাতি) means Elephant and “Jheel” (ঝিল) means lake. হাতিরঝিল is surrounded by Tejgaon, Maghbazar, Niketon, Gulshan, Badda, Banasree and Rampura.

The Hatirjheel at night footage showed all the facts thoroughly happening after the sun set. In fact, the night sight here is the most fantastic thing to observe on the lake area. During the darkness, the place bedizens a replacement look with various colorful lights. Vibrant illuminous lights like Red, Yellow, Blue, Green and Violets makes the environment dramatic. The water show is another exciting night fact of the Hatirjheel lake (হাতিরঝিল). Generally, in each Friday just after 9:00 pm the bridges and dancing shower feels like a fairyland for 15 minutes and so, there are plenty of spectators come to enjoy the beautiful display of light event.

We had captured the Hatirjheel night view using drone camera, action camera and smartphone camera. Throughout the all night you'd find plenty of pedestrians, foreign and native visitors here. I guess this place never sleeps! Colorful trees, flowering shrubs and plenty of decorative elements are found everywhere round the Elephant-Lake. Especially green trees with green lights after evening around the lake would surely impress you. The sight has actually things to offer for every type of people like family, children, friends and couples. It is a good place for jogging too.
