Winter Waterfalls | Challenging Wet Conditions | Snoquerna Falls

Описание к видео Winter Waterfalls | Challenging Wet Conditions | Snoquerna Falls

Snoquerna Falls is located in the White River Valley in Pierce County Washington. I had to deal with some pretty challenging conditions – to include rain, snow, ice and exposure. The hike to the falls is pretty straightforward – with parking at the Camp Sheppard trailhead. When I left the parking lot, it was right at freezing, 32F, but as I increased in elevation, the temperature also increased. This is called a temperature inversion – which does create clouds and fog in the right conditions.

I was able to capture an abstract shot of some Old Man’s Beard lichen on a deciduous tree with some leaves left from last fall. Overall, I was happy with the image. The photography at the falls was much more challenging – with me having to climb much higher than anticipated to eliminate distractions in the composition. I was happy with the day’s images. I doubt they are portfolio shots, but it’s always great to be in the backcountry.

I made coffee on my Trangia Triangle using a Miir Pouragami coffee filter holder.
