How do I get better at moguls skiing Lesson6, Julie Ray, Bill Peltier

It's great conditions right now because it's soft enough for us to trust in skiing a more direct line. I thought everybody looked really good committing to keeping our shoulders and hips down the fall line. And in this snow, remember our feet aren't pinned together; we still have a good, stable foundation. It's our knees that are rolling in the direction that we want to go. So just practice on this upper section, the S-shape turns, okay? Feeling your weight on the ball of your foot is something I'd like everybody to kind of feel. Imagine if everybody has their skis sideways going across the hill, and you lean your body forward and feel your shins way in the front of your boot. Your weight is on the ball of your foot. Now bend your knees and pick your chest up and your hips too, so you're tall but you still have the weight on the ball of your foot and that shin pressure. Do you feel that? Okay, so that's kind of the goal that we want to feel. When we've got that kind of pressure, it's going to start the shape, the turn is going to start at the tip of the ski, and that's what we're looking for, that's our edging and speed control. It's merely rolling our knees and pointing them in the direction we want to go, and the ski is going to come around. I don't need to see a step, you know, we don't need the old style, we don't need to do a stem Christie with modern equipment. That's all gone away. And as mogul skiers, we want to keep that quickness. Okay, so let's just practice down here. Be patient with it, you know, feel and don't give up that shin pressure that you just felt, all right? And tall from our hips to the top of our head. Did you feel your shins more than you normally do? Yeah, it makes a big difference because then we're starting to use the tip of the ski, and if we pressure that ski, it's going to come right around. If our weight is back on a flat foot and our heel, all we're using is this part of the ski, and that's like turning on the gas pedal, and we're going to go faster. So feel the shins. So we are going to go back to feeling that downhill knee stay soft, right? No dropping the anchor, and just nice shin pressure. Our feet aren't pinned; it's our knees that give us the illusion that our feet are together, right? Because we want to have that stable foundation, right? Yeah
So, what our goal today is, like I said, we're really going to focus on absorption and keeping ski snow contact when we're in the moguls. So, we're going to practice just right here on the flats, um, absorbing what we call absorbing the flats, and we're going to plant our pole with our knees. And as we turn around the pole, we're pulling our feet back. So, we're really going to exaggerate this low and pulling our feet back.
