Concerto No. 2 in E-Flat Major, Op. 14 by Franz Strauss

Often overshadowed by his son Richard, Franz Strauss was a monumental musician in his own right. In addition to being a composer, F. Strauss was a virtuosic hornist, performing with the Bavarian Court Opera for over 40 years. Little is known regarding the Concerto No. 2 in E-Flat Major, Op. 14 as it only had its premiere posthumously in 1999.

The performance was given as part of a Faculty Recital at Valparaiso University in Duesenberg Recital Hall on October 4th, 2021. This performance was the premiere of the piano reduction, also completed by Layne Anspach.
