As the game is a scrolling beat-em-up, it means that all the enemy characters are unplayable.

In scrolling beat-em-ups, the case for them is that usually even if you use external methods to try and "select" the enemies, the results are disappointing as you don't get to control them at all. This is because the enemies are not characters, but rather "objects" (like boxes, barrels, weapons, items, etc.).

However in Final Fight 3, by using external methods, the enemy characters can actually be selected, made to appear and be controlled by the player. Unfortunately it's quite glitched, you do not get access to their "basic" moves, and it's prone to crashing. But it is interesting nonetheless.

The bosses are the most interesting enemies to play as because you can actually perform one of their "special" attacks by using the Direction Lock buttons!

Here is the information when controlling the enemy characters:

===== GENERAL =====

---- The movements/walking is not orthodox and is glitched, meaning that most command inputs do not correspond to the direction pressed. For example pressing Down makes the character walk on the spot.

---- When the D-Pad is in Neutral, the characters slide up the screen. It's as if there is magnet pulling them up.

---- You cannot perform any of their "basic" attacks.

---- The Attack, Jump and Special buttons do nothing. It only makes the character "shift" a little bit (like as if there is nothing programmed in for the button pressed).

---- For the Bosses, the Direction Lock / Hold Dir. buttons (default L or R) perform one of their special attacks! These attacks can hit and damage the other enemy characters! (as if you were the good guy)

---- They can be hit by other enemy characters.

---- When hit by another enemy character, they usually go into a state where they can no longer be moved around.

---- They cannot turn direction on their own. They can only turn if hit by another enemy character from behind.

---- They have parts of "CPU control" embedded in. This CPU control can be "activated" by the character doing certain things and/or being put in certain situations.

---- When they are knocked down, sometimes strange glitches can occur or the game even crashes. One example of this is a glitch where it leads them standing in mid-air, unable to be moved. This seems to occur most often on the standard enemies.

---- Grabbing an enemy crashes the game the majority of the time.

---- Trying to pick up items with these characters will crash the game. An example of this starts around 2:03 in the video where I try to pick up the flowers with Black. (I haven't tested all the characters though)

---- When on the Continue screen, their sprites here are glitched and will eventually crash the game.

---- Their correct icons appear next to the player's lifebar, however their name text are glitched.

And here are the information for each individual boss:

===== BLACK =====

---- You can perform his Spinning Clothesline move.

---- After being knocked down, he can automatically perform either 1) a strike with his whip; 2) the Energy Palm or 3) the Spinning Clothesline. The player cannot perform 1 nor 2. You can see this in the video starting around 1:44 in the video.

---- When he grabs an enemy, sometimes the sprite of him in the full uniform is used. You can see this starting around 1:56 in the video.

---- If he is defeated, he goes through the animation/motion of the electrocution (as if he is defeated normally by the player on the final stage, by being knocked into the electric generator). You can see this starting around 2:10 in the video.

===== DAVE =====

---- You can perform his Jumping Slam.

---- When Dave is being controlled, no other enemy characters appear for some reason.

===== CALLMAN =====

---- You can perform his Shoulder Barge move.

---- He can sometimes use the "dash back" when another enemy character tries to hit him. This dash back is automatic.

===== CAINE =====

---- You can perform his spanner strike, which has great range.

===== WONG =====

---- You can perform his Blanka Roll.

---- Very slow in speed.

===== DRAKE =====

---- When unarmed, you can perform his Jumping Slam.

---- He appears without the Anchor.

---- When he is without the Anchor, he is quick in movement speed.

---- Pressing Left makes the Anchor appear in his hand.

---- When he is with the Anchor, his speed is extremely slow and cannot perform his Jumping Slam.

---- His Anchor is dropped if he is knocked down.

---- His Anchor appears with glitched colours, but the colours can change.

===== STRAY =====

---- You can perform his Jumping Pounce.

===== OTHER INFORMATION =====

---- The Japanese version of the game is known as Final Fight Tough.
