Heavy rainfall in Gurugram, often referred to as India’s millennium city, led to massive water-logging and huge traffic snarls on Wednesday night.

Frustrated residents took to X (formerly Twitter) sharing videos of submerged streets and jokingly calling for boat services to navigate the flooding. Some users called the city ‘Venice of India’ and criticised the municipal corporation’s handling of the situation.

In social media posts on Thursday morning, local authorities said they had 'swiftly responded' to the issue, deploying teams to clear drainage systems and restore normal traffic flow.
