World Trade Center Survivor and Recovery Worker Peter R., and Survivor Tom G. share their personal stories of September 11th in their 9/11 Tribute Museum presentation of We Were There on stage at the National September 11th Memorial Museum.

Tom worked in the World Trade Center for 15 years, and on 9/11 was working on the 82nd floor of the North Tower for the Port Authority. After the impact of the plane, everyone on his floor began evacuating the building with no question or thought. He recalls the surprisingly calm trek down the stairwell, firefighters' heroic efforts, and his journey back to his home in New Jersey.

Peter worked for the Port Authority, and was not in his office on the 77th floor of the North Tower on the morning of 9/11. On vacation with his wife in North Carolina, he watched the events unfold on TV. In the aftermath of the attack, Peter was assigned to an engineering team responsible for clearing away the debris from Ground Zero. He talks about the story of the "last column," recalls the horrors of the site, and speaks of how the response to 9/11 brought out the best of humanity.
