RUMINATIONS: By this point, the Tandy Computer Whiz Kids had become an annual event, if only to prolong their life with the few that remain. I should be done with them by 2018 or so.

As for the storyline, it was time to start wrapping things up in time for Halloween. This required bringing everyone together for an assault on Holokara to drain his energy, showing Linksano in a lightly more heroic role than usual. Linkara’s return at the end was a not-so-subtle reference to Giles from the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s season 6 finale. It’s a great moment and it’s okay to reference stuff like that, IMHO, as long as you can hit the same kind of emotional chords. Sure, Linkara had been seen two weeks earlier, but I think people expected his return to not happen until the Halloween storyline to play up the horror of Linkara vs. the hologram.

No, the real thing that nobody noticed was the fact that both of my magic gun props were sitting on the shelf behind Holokara. Whoops. Still, the fact that nobody commented on it means that they weren’t paying attention to the background, which is a good thing. To paraphrase an anecdote once said by Wil Wheaton: “If people are paying more attention to the background than the actors on screen, you’re doing something wrong.”
