Rajrappa finds mention in the Vedas, Puranas and Hindu scriptures as a "Shakti Peeth".
This place also holds a special position because of it's scenic beauty, making it a perfect picnic spot too.
Falling under the Ramgarh district of Jharkhand, the main attraction of the Rajrappa temple is the headless deity of Goddess Chinnamasta which stands on the body of Kamdeo and Rati in the lotus bed.
Chhinnamasta often spelled Chinnamasta and also called Chhinnamastika and Prachanda Chandika, is one of the Mahavidyas, ten Tantric goddesses and a ferocious aspect of Devi, the Hindu Divine Mother. Chhinnamasta can be easily identified by her fearsome iconography. The self-decapitated goddess holds her own severed head in one hand, a scimitar in another. Three jets of blood spurt out of her bleeding neck and are drunk by her severed head and two attendants. Chhinnamasta is usually depicted standing on a copulating couple.
The Chhinnamasta temple is popular for its Tantrik style of architectural design. Apart from the main temple, there are ten temples of various gods and goddesses such as the Surya (Sun God), Hanuman and Lord Shiva.

Besides religious importance, the place is also a picnic spot owing to its natural environment.
The hilly landscape covered with lush forest and rivers are some of its features.
The hot water spring located here increases the popularity of the region.

#Best time to visit-
Though the temple remains flooded with devotees throughout the year, the best time to witness the glory of this gorgeous temple would be between October and March. Several Hindu festivals such as Makar Sankranti and Maha Shivratri are celebrated here with much fervour and enthusiasm. So if you want to pay a religious visit, come in during this time.

#How to reach Chinnamasta Temple -
The temple is well connected to rest part of the state so reaching here won’t be an issue. The nearest airport is in Ranchi, the state capital city, which is about 70 km from away. Buses and taxis are easily available from outside the airport. Those travelling by train can get their tickets booked till Ramgarh railway station which is only 28 km from the temple. From outside the station, you can hire a taxi or even get a direct bus for the temple.
