The Sea and Ships.

In 1960, the Patterson family decided to stay away from the busy towns and traffic jammed highways to have a sailing holiday on the Clyde Steamers. They based themselves at Largs.Destinations include: Millport, Rothesay, Ardrossan, Belfast and Dunoon.
The impressive variety of Clyde Steamers featured in this film are certainly a distinguishing feature.
We view many old favourites including PS Waverley,PS Jeanie Deans, PS Caledonia and DEPV Talisman, as well as TS Duchess of Montrose, TS Queen Mary II, MV Lochfyne, MV Arran, MV Glen Sannox and MV Maid of Skelmorlie. We also get a glimpse of the Transatlantic liner, RMS Empress of Britain.
The esplanades of both Rothesay and Largs can be seen with their immaculately tended lawns and flower beds, and plenty of rowing and motor boats that were always available to hire.We sail down the famous Kyles of Bute and on to Dunoon.
