Jackie Estacado aka The Darkness may not be the most famous comic book (anti-)hero (or villain, depends on how you see it) of all time, but it's probably one of the greatest anti heroes of the 90's! The Darkness is one of these series I found as a kid (at a local train station shop) and even though I wasn't even able to buy it, I had about a minute time to go through pages and look at the images. Fast forward. In my teen years, a video game for this franchise was released and I was sucked back into this world and could finally experience the full story. Just recently I stumbled upon this franchise again and realized that there's currently a Hardcover Edition being released. And since the only luxury I really treat myself with are books, I didn't hesitate and ordered the collection (or what's available so far). I'm just glad this story finally gets the treatment it deserved for years.

I'm a huge believer in catharsis and the cleansing of elios and phobos,
therefore I think that The Darkness came at the right time to me, back in the day. It's dark. And that's not a pun, it's really dark - but it also got a lot of humor and - at least for me - a very good pacing. The artwork was what captured my attention as a child, but the story hooked me in my teenage years.

Oh and by the way... I'm really looking forward to the new series created by Marc Silvestri. Always loved his style and I think he'll bring the comic back to its roots while adding a lot of new lore!

This text is already too long, so I'd like to know:
Have you ever heard of this story?
If so, what's your favorite arc?
