Counterpoint III for Sampled Pianos by Gary P Hayes on QuNexus Keyboard & Sequencer to Disting EX MS Piano

Now with added theremin on my other channel    • Original Theremin & Live Sequenced Pi...

This piece fell out of me experimenting with the amazing Keith McMillen QuNexus keyboard with a recently discovered inbuilt 3 track sequencer. I have two QuNexus and updated the firmward a while ago but never go around to trying the sequencer elements. I use all three tracks continuously in this piece varying the time signatures of each, the divisions, the pattern directions and more. This piece is using the QuNexus internal clock but I have found a way to send midi from my main rack using Pams Pro and can integrate works like this in sync with my eurorack. For now I wanted it pure.

Better than looping? - Also this goes beyond using a looper as I can pop back into a previous track and change 1 or 2 notes then erase a middle track and add something completely different, or change the direction and speed of previous tracks etc: - I know some loopers can do some of this but definitely not replacing a note or two on the fly in an existing loop or changing to multiple playback directions and even changing speed to complex multiples and divisions.

All the sound is coming from the ubiquitous Disting EX soft piano, single multisample (which glitches every now and then as it receives a lot of notes later in the work!) - I do have the fastest recommended micro SD card btw. There is a little reverb added about halfway near to where I start to move into different keys, from Cm to G to Bm and Eb and back ...
