'Caribbean Catch-Up: Will and Kate's Belize Tour Highlights'

Welcome to the Caribbean Catch-Up - your rundown of the Cambridge's eight-day official tour to the Caribbean.

In this edition, Will gets the giggles at the ancient Mayan ruins, the pair show off their wild sides in the Belize jungle and… Kate gets stuck in at a chocolate farm.

Will and Kate's arrival in Belize caused upset - a scheduled trip to Indian Creek was cancelled when protesters opposed the visit. This forced the schedule to be re-jigged, and the couple headed to a family run cacao farm in Hopkins.

The Duchess tried her hand at grinding cocoa nibs on a traditional stone tool. After the chocolate tour, Kate got her hands dirty and planted a tree in commemoration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

In Hopkins village, they met with the Garifuna people - descendants of Africans and indigenous Kalinagos who moved along the the region to escape slavery. William and Kate joined in with a punta dance session that gets the hips moving and the feet tapping, while the upper body remains still. After all that dancing, the pair earned themselves a cup of Hudutu broth, a seafood and coconut soup.

On the second full day of their Caribbean tour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge headed deep into the jungle. As they climbed the 43 metre-tall, 3000-year-old "sky palace", Archaeologist Allan Moore told them its history.

After visiting the archaeological site, Will and Kate met with the British Army Training Support Unit, who spend six to eight weeks in the jungle.

It was, according to the Palace, “a trip down memory lane” for the Duke, who spent some time with the unit here during his gap year.

For the evening reception, Kate slipped into a shimmering pink gown by British designer, The Vampire's Wife. The Duchess completed the look with silver heeled sandals and a Mayan embroidered clutch bag.

During a speech, the Duke spoke about his grandmother’s 1994 address to the nation, when condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The next stop on Cambridge's Caribbean tour is Jamaica, where they will celebrate the nation's musical and sporting heritage, and may even get a visit from Usain Bolt.

But, the Royal pair have been warned that they may receive a similar welcome from locals in Kingston. Protests are planned to coincide with their landing in the capital, calling for slavery reparations for Britain's colonial past.
