The Prince Regent’s Regency: Celebrating All the Way from Start to End - from 1811 to 1820, through the Pains and Penalties of King George IV versus Queen Caroline!
Three dances merged into one choreography for your enjoyment:
Country Dance 11 by Magri: Theoretical & Practical Dance Treaty, 1779 Naples, Italy
Seize 2 and Douze 1 by Roller: Becker’s Pocket Guide, 1811 Leipzig, Germany
We have chosen to set the 1811 dances to 1820 music, to mark the end of the Regency.:
“Fashionable Parisian Quadrilles by Simonet” (as danced at Almack’s, Bath and Cheltenham and published by Wheatstone, London):
“Waltz from Freyschutz” (the “Marksman”) by the German composer Weber.
“La Nouvelle Caroline”, a nod to the Pains and Penalties that our “Queen” Caroline is about to endure!
