1969 Triumph GT6+: Original vs. Reproduction Parts, etc.

Small Triumph Sports Library & Archives, Episode 20 (July 2024)

Discussion/comparison of several original and reproduction/replacement items for the 1969 GT6+. Some items are relevant to other years for GT6s, and one is important for the Spitfire Mk3.

The standard statements: As always, my videos are based on some combination of research and experience.
***Please help me to ensure the accuracy of information on my channel. Please reach out when you detect errors or possible errors. I make corrections as needed in video descriptions, in comments, and in videos.
***For videos such as this one, I’m ALWAYS seeking useful input, advice, etc.

Initial notes/corrections, pedantic nonsense, and self-mockery:

The prep time on this video was considerable, but the filming was done in short order with minimal scripting. I may eventually regret that. Please do let me know if I’ve screwed something up.

3:08 At least, I’m not aware of others who have reproduced these.

5:27 After all, my car has been plowed into from the rear at least twice…

7:18 Hazen Wardle’s promotional video may be seen here:    • New Triumph GT6 Hatch Spring Covers

21: 41 I don’t know if the change is recorded in Lucas's supplemental materials. My collection does not include any supplemental material issued between the 1968 and 1969 catalogues, which were published in March of their respective years.

24:12 My best two sets of parts.

29:29 I guess I should have acknowledged that most modern lamps seem to be similarly constructed...and I'm open to some details being improvements over the original in terms of function...but it's still not "right" in terms of my priorities.

29:36 Key links from the following discussion:
SpitBits lamps: https://www.spitbits.com/store/Rear-T...
NOTE: SpitBits appears to sell the lamp with amber lens and fixings for the lens. The NOS complete unit I mentioned seeing on eBay for around $90.00 included everything (the plinth, the trim ring, the wire grommet, etc.).
Moss replacement lamp: https://mossmotors.com/spt-031p-mk3-r...
Emberton Imperial LTD: https://embertonimperial.com/en-us/pr...

30:46 Possibly use a different plinth, etc.
