Hong Kong Airport to Tsuen Wan on the A31 bus

Описание к видео Hong Kong Airport to Tsuen Wan on the A31 bus

To be frank, I only took this bus to get me to the starting point of Tsuen Wan for a more famous bus route, but then that’s what buses are for – to get you to where you want to be.

On the other hand, Tsuen Wan is itself an interesting place, with settlements going back two thousand years, and a history of piracy of the Long John Silver variety (allegedly), but developed more recently under the “new town” concept in the 1960s, and now boasting three MTR stations.

The airport bus terminus was deserted. The last time I was here the Airport Express was closed and several thousand people were queueing for buses home. Traffic jams meant that it was hard for buses to get into the airport, but the bus company staff were extremely efficient, organising the crowds superbly, and maximising the use of space on the buses once they arrived.

In the throng, I was chatting to a local lady, who would still be faced with an onward journey to Lamma after she had got to Hong Kong Island. She heard one of the organisers shouting in Cantonese that there was room on the A11 bus for someone without a suitcase, and told me (I only had a holdall), thereby saving me at least a couple of hours of waiting. Of such kindnesses are memories made.

Please enjoy the video.
