Honda CB750 Cafe Racer Frame Strip Down & Welding Repairs [Custom Motorcycle Frame Hoop] 06

In this cafe racer build episode, I strip everything off the frame of my CB750 Cafe Racer project bike and do a little welding to get it ready for painting.

Here's what we used in this video:
Clarke Weld MIG 150 TE Turbo: https://ebay.us/jbdfE8 (this is the newer version)
0.8 Welding Wire: https://ebay.us/eQWqWx
Argon/CO2 Welding Gas & Regulator: https://ebay.us/7BOngD
Angle Grinder Wire Brushes: https://ebay.us/sSJjtM
Dewalt Angle Grinder: https://ebay.us/CmsNuW
Safety Goggles: https://ebay.us/2Dvt5C

This motorcycle frame has had a lot of work done to it already. It has a cafe racer hoop welded to the frame rails at the back, and a number of brackets including the rear footrest hangers have been cut off. It also has had a few brackets welded on, for the rear brake, seat and rear sets.

I was planning to have it powder coated, but I also want to get it together as a running bike quickly as well. With the changes that have been made, and the fact that I may need further brackets, or maybe a change to the rear hoop, I don’t want to spend the money on powder coating and then have to remove some of it to make the changes.

So I have decided to paint it with 2k gloss black first so that it looks presentable when I get it back together. Then if I need to make changes it will be easier to refinish, and concern about damaging the finish will influence any future decisions.

Before I paint it, it also needed some of the welding improving, so young SpannrRash but his new E30 honed skills to work. I will prepare it and use a bit of filler to improve it, but that will be in a future video.
