After having the privilege of touring Monastery of the Holy Cross in Chicago, IL, I sat down with Prior Peter to ask him what a day in the life of a Catholic monk is like. In so doing, we discuss everything from what time monks wake up, how the monastery sustains itself, and what advice he would give to people for a deeper prayer life. For those interested in the monastic vocation, we also discuss what kind of people generally make it as monks and how you might discern that vocation.
