After our much needed break we open season 4 by welcoming Portland favorite, backyardmango. Sergio Lopez is a selector/DJ with family roots in Jalisco and Michoacán, and kicks off his Humano Sound debut with an infectious Cumbia Sonidera set. His passion for collecting and sharing music stems from his upbringing in a first generation household and childhood summers spent in Mexico. Sergio blends the traditional genres from his youth with contemporary sounds, creating a vibrant intergenerational mix. Cumbia has a rich and powerful history with a sound that continues to evolve, migrate and grow. Whether you play, perform or collect music, the importance of sharing it allows for it to expand. In this set, Cumbia Sonidera is explored through its evolution rooted from the birthplace of Cumbia Colombiana into Mexico and its modern influences from the United States.
