ABOUT AMSTERDAM CITY IN GENERAL:

From then to now, there have been various levels of legality and permissiveness in the use of cannabis in the country. Dutch coffee shops, businesses where the purchase of marijuana is allowed, started appearing in Amsterdam in the 1970s. The culture of cannabis shops is changing as more and more people visit Amsterdam for cannabis-related tourism.

Cannabis usage in the Netherlands increased over time. The peak year of cannabis usage in the Netherlands was 2015, when nearly nine percent of the respondents indicated having used cannabis in the preceding year.

Corresponding to Statista 2022, in Amsterdam 2% of people smoke weed daily, 5% monthly and just less than 8% early.
