Melbourne Spider crabs, normally are seen moulting during May and June. Full moon or at least a few days after are considered peek period. Watch the Crabs predators and you will notice the moulting for some individual crabs starts a lot earlier. 2-3 weeks sometimes. It seem to be a big mistake to go first. As soon a Crabs cracks its shell to moult...its body juices are easily detected and normally the "early bird" is eaton quickly. Moult together and you have a better chances of surviving to pass on your characteristics to the next generation.
