あらゆる業界において革新的なスタートアップから歴史ある大手企業まで世界で24万社以上の組織でのチームワークを支えるAtlassianの主要製品の一つであり、世界一利用されているアジャイル管理ツールである「Jira Software」。

今回のゲストは、Atlassianに10年間在籍し Jira Agile / Jira Software の開発チームを2014年から5年間に渡りLead Product Managerとしてリードし、それから現在までプリンシパルプロダクトマネージャーとしてクラウド移行に取り組まれているJason Wongさんです。

2014年、アトラシアンがSaaSとして2011年から提供していた「Atlassian OnDemand」は「Atlassian Cloud」へと変わり、2016年頃から始まったAtlassian史上最大のプロジェクト「Vertigo」("めまい"という意味) で、Jasonさんはサーバー版と同じコードベースを持っていたJira Cloudをオンプレミス版Jiraのソフトウェア・アーキテクチャから分離させ、クラウドネイティブ（クラウド前提のソフトウェア構造）にすることに取り組んできました。

それからサーバー版のJiraを利用されているお客様のクラウド移行を支援すべく、現在（2024年）までクラウド移行というテーマに取り組んでいます。

今回、世界各国でAtlassianのユーザーが集まって交流や情報共有をするイベントであるAtlassian Community Event (ACE) のバンガロール開催が2024年3月16日にあり、一緒に登壇する機会をいただいたことからJason Wongさんへのインタビューが実現しました。

登壇予定の内容から掘り下げ、Jiraというソフトウェアの変遷、そしてその開発に関わる世界中に分散されている幾多のチームをどのようにして率いてきたのかお話しいただきました。

Atlassian supports teamwork at more than 240,000 companies worldwide, from innovative startups to historic giants, across all industries. Jira Software is one of Atlassian's flagship products and the world's most popular agile management tool.

Jason Wong had led the development team of Jira Agile / Jira Software for 5 years as Lead Product Manager since 2014 and currently as Principal Product Manager, he has been working on Cloud Migration.

Since 2014, "Atlassian OnDemand", which Atlassian had been offering as SaaS since 2011, has been rebranded to Atlassian Cloud, and in "Vertigo", the largest project in Atlassian history started around 2016, he had been working on separating software architecture of Jira cloud which had the same code base as the on-premise Jira from the software architecture of the on-premise Jira to make it cloud-native

After that, he has been working on cloud migration until now (2024) to support customers who use Jira on-premise migrate to cloud.

I got the opportunity to speak at the Atlassian Community Event (ACE) with Jason Wong in Bangalore on March 16, 2024, where Atlassian users around the world gather to exchange and share information. And interview with him has been realized.

Delved into from the content of the speakers at the event, he talked about the evolution of Jira software and how he has led the many teams distributed around the world involved in its development.
