Why you should NOT use sweeping rods with Metal Connectors.

The last thing you want to do is damage your flue liner using the wrong type of sweeping rods. The liner fails and you face a costly job to replace it with a new one or risk human safety with smoke and CO entering rooms in your house.
You can only get to see the condition of your flue liner by using a professional camera inspection service....or you could climb on the roof and dangle your iphone down the flue on a bit of string!
But seriously, my point is don’t use sweeping rods that potentially over time could tear and damage the liner by abrasion.

Sometimes the old way of doing a job is still the best....and hand sweeping a flue beats modern rotary options in many ways. Provided that neither method uses metal rod connectors. They are the root cause of many flue liner failures as are flue fires.
The inner wall of your flue is only 0.2mm, only ten times thicker than kitchen foil.
