Once the contours are generated, the slab contour plan is analyzed in conjunction with an assessment of internal and external damage and internal and external influences including soil moisture influences, lay of the land, the depth and placement of fill, the location, and proximity of trees, drainage, underground services etc. The list is pretty exhaustive. To do a good job of assessing slab heave a thorough investigation is used to rule out all types of issues that affect house footings.
