“We can do more. Not only we can accommodate the resurging number of local and international tourists to this side of Metro Manila, but we can also expect our Entertainment City to become better and even more distinguished, elevating its status to more potential visitors in the coming years,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. conveyed as he led the inauguration of the country’s biggest hotel development to date — the Grand Westside Hotel — in Parañaque City.

In his speech, the President underscored the inauguration as a commitment in further strengthening the growing tourism industry in the Philippines, which contributed 8.6% in the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2023. According to him, the grand opening of the 1,530-room Grand Westside Hotel is seen to pave the way not just for more tourist arrivals, but also for more jobs, businesses and countless opportunities for many Filipinos.

“In fact, while many have benefitted from the actual construction of these properties, around 20,000 direct and indirect jobs will still be created throughout the operation of this hotel in the coming years… Indeed, world-class experiences are awaiting this hotel’s guests,” he said.

President Marcos Jr. also expressed his gratitude towards Megaworld Corporation — the company behind the said hotel — for developing a project that Filipinos can be proud of and look forward to, underscoring this as a testament to the robust collaboration between the government and the private sector.

“Having developed many hotels and other tourism-related establishments around the country, Megaworld proves that it is a true partner in national development and a great builder of dreams and sustainable communities in our society… Our work together can and will help empower the Filipino people in ways that will allow them to contribute to our society and enjoy while doing so,” President Marcos Jr. stressed.

Likewise, the Chief Executive reiterated the Administration’s vision of a more thriving and stronger tourism sector in the country under ‘Bagong Pilipinas,’ noting that the government continues to formulate policies, foster social development and build better infrastructure that can be enjoyed by the next generation of Filipinos.
