As per usual, Chris and I waited until about two hours before Minnesota's siren test to decide where to go. We eventually settled on a WPS-2806 in North Mankato, and we set off. North Mankato has one of the oldest Whelen systems still in operation in the United States, with many mid-90s 2800s and this 2016 accompanying a handful of new 2900s. While in North Mankato, we realized that the WS-2016 by Star Trailers was still up. The other WS-2016 at Caswell Park got replaced by a WPS-2906 last year, and we had always assumed that this one got replaced as well. So naturally we changed our location to this one, and found a location in Star Trailer's property to record from. I should note, DO NOT try and record from their property if you decide to come here. The only reason we were able to is because the owners are part of my family and they were fine letting us do it. Anyways, the sirens were lit off right at 1 PM and ran the usual test. This siren was not loud at all, but the echoes it threw off the valley were pretty incredible. You can also hear countless other Whelens from both North Mankato and the city of Mankato itself, which was behind us. The voice was also pretty neat to experience, as this is the only place anywhere near me that uses voice. Thanks for watching, and enjoy!

Blue Earth County tests its siren system on the first Wednesday of every month at 1 PM, weather permitting. I should note, the city of North Mankato itself is in Nicollet County, however their sirens are activated by neighboring Blue Earth County (which also houses the much larger city of Mankato).
