WALKS IN HAMPSHIRE at DROXFORD (SOUTH DOWNS NATIONAL PARK)

This is another video in my series “Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode I take a 3 mile circular route (including a couple of minor detours) from the village of Droxford in Hampshire. Droxford is 16 miles South of Alton & 9 miles North of Fareham and sits in the centre West of the South Downs National Park.

I start off by exploring the church of St Marys & All Saints before having a quick wander through Droxford and down to the old mill. My route then takes me East to cross the delightful River Meon (a super place to stop for a picnic).

Shortly after this, I take a minor detour to look at the disused Meon Valley Railway line and in particular the siding that was used for the railway carriage in which Winston Churchill & his Allied Leaders planned the last minute details for D-Day in June 1944. I then head 300 yards North along the track to look at the old Droxford Railway Station (now a private house).

I then re-join my original route, heading South with the River Meon on my right & wonderful views of fields & woods on my left.

At Cutts Arch, I make another small detour to explore the hamlet of Soberton and in particular the church of St peters.

Finally I head back North to Droxford, this time on the Western side of the River Meon.
